Ah Duluth...how I miss thee.

I am back from Duluth and me and Alex had a wonderful time. The point of our trip was to have some together time and completely relax, besides a few bumps the mission was a success.

We took off Friday morning for the three hour drive up north. We were both kind of excited for the drive because we wanted to sing along to some very choice musicals and mix CDs that Alex had composed. The drive went pretty quick because we were having a good time. We made a lunch stop in Hinckley and had a Carmel roll and French onion soup. We warned the waitress the order would be weird. :)

The resort we stayed at was absolutely hands down the best place I have ever stayed! We both agreed that the rooms, bed, view, everything was top notch. Check out Beacon Point if you ever head to Duluth. We had some time to kill before our room was ready so we drive around town for a bit and stretched our legs at a local KFC. That night we had dinner at Bellisios, which was a very cute Italian place. The food was good but not great, Alex didn't care for his much but the bread was to die for! Whatever seasoning they used....it works! We then went back to the hotel, got in the hot tub and watch the movie Officer and a Gentleman. It had comedy, romance and drama, a very good movie. After that the people next to us decided to be obnoxious ass clowns. It sounded like a party was going on in there and the smoke alarms went off twice. We got moved to another room and did not have any other noise problems.

To continue to relax ourselves we went to an Aveda salon in town and each had hour long massages and a scalp massage right when we woke up on Saturday. It was probably the best massage I have had. She paid such close attention to everything...loved it! We then went back to the hotel to shower and headed out for some shopping. There were two shopping areas that we saw...Canal Park, which had some very cute stores and then the main strip of downtown which had NOTHING! There was hardly a store open and the ones that were open didn't have anything. Kind of a bummer but we had a good time in Canal Park.

Then we went back to the hotel and relaxed in the hot tub again before dinner. It is so nice that we find relaxation in the same things. We had dinner at the Radisson Hotel in downtown Duluth. The Radisson in Saint Paul is a very nice place to eat with good atmosphere and good food, just a nice dining experience. Well...the Duluth Radisson is polar opposite. Nothing was really good about it. The service, food and even just the appearance was nothing special and bad in most cases. Despite that we had a good time making fun of people at their expense. :) After dinner we hit the resort pool and jacuzzi for awhile and then...you guessed it back to the room and into the hot tub. This time we were accompanied by candle light and some wonderful wine.

We were going to do a late checkout on Sunday but when we both woke up we just decided to get ready and head out so we could have time to hit some shops. Alex wanted to get something for his Aunt Peggy for watching Charley over the weekend. This is when Alex almost got killed by a local douche bag. I will copy what he wrote...

Sunday morning we got ready, and made one more stop at Canal Park. It was here that I was almost killed by a Road Raging Bumpkin. He was ready to kill me and called me fag, cocksucker, and fat. That was after he SLAMMED my car door shut twice. Note to self... if a Bumpkin in Duluth is riding your ass, let him... Don't slam on your breaks if you want to live to see another day.

After that we just headed out back towards home. We stopped a lot along the way in search of a new gnome that Alex always brings with him when he travels. It is a good luck charm and his current one has seen the end of days. After stopping everywhere we actually found one at Walgreens of all places. Before we got back to Alex's place we made a stop off to the cemetery were his dad is. I was very happy that Alex wanted to take me there and it was nice to see other family members as well. We were pretty quick since it was a little chilly and a funeral was just showing up as we got there.

Then we just watched some TV and Alice in Wonderland that Alex was in his senior year of high school, it was really cute, and then we headed to bed. It was a wonderful weekend!
